On July 24, Buenos Aires opened its 9 de julio Metrobus corridor. The city already had two other Metrobus corridors, but this one has gotten more publicity because of the location, on the city’s iconic Avenida 9 de julio. It is not a full blown Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, because it is mainly the already existing buses who use the dedicated lanes. However, it is a great improvement, because buses now have dedicated lanes, which means they don’t have to compete with cars and motorcycles for the space. This of course makes it safer and more comfortable for everybody.
I had the chance to take a few bus rides along the corridor yesterday and it was great!
